20+ years in business: Eurolink Connect’s key milestones

February 2019 marked 20 years supporting businesses across the UK with their IT & Telecommunications needs, and it’s only fitting that we take a look back in time at our achievements since 1999!

Scroll down to see where it all began, or start at the top to see what we’ve been up to recently!

2019

20 years on

It’s been 20 years since we launched and it was definitely an excuse for a team party. Not only that but former Commercial Director Claire becomes our first female MD and we launch PIPPA - our feature rich Hosted Telephone Solution. PIPPA gives us a much more comprehensive platform and helps our clients benefit from a more cost-effective, fit-for-purpose phone platform.
2018

Harry marries Meghan.

We gained Panasonic recognition for being an Expert Partner and welcomed the new GDPR Regulations.
2016

The year the UK voted to leave the European Union.

We successfully launched our ISP in a Box solution for Multiple Dwelling Units allowing landlords to provide cost-effective, safe and secure internet to their residents.
2015

Great Britain won the Davis Cup for the first time since 1936, thanks to Andy Murray.

We were finalists in the Stroud Life Awards for Best Customer Service and raised £960 for The Butterfly Garden Project, who became our chosen charity. Meanwhile we passed our cyber penetration tests with flying colours! This means we can assure clients of their data security, and can vouch for the robustness of our cyber products too!
2014

The Commonwealth Games took place in Scotland

We became one of the first UK businesses to gain the updated ISO27001:2013 accreditation and also added Ethernet to our product portfolio. Ethernet has enabled us to offer dedicated business grade internet lines, allowing our customers to embrace unified comms, and running both their voice and data networks across the same connection.
2013

The world was rocked by the Boston Marathon Bombing and the Death of Nelson Mandela, plus we enjoyed the birth of Prince George too.

We rebranded and changed our company name from ‘Eurolink Telecom’ to ‘Eurolink Connect’ better describing our business. We also won Stroud Life Small Business of the Year in 2013.
2012

The London Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee; a patriotic year!

We purchased our own premises in Stonehouse, revamping the Old Police Station, and we adopted fibre, upgrading customers to faster internet speeds. We were one of the first to embrace this change and now have more fibre installations as a percentage of our portfolio compared with the big players.
2011

Osama Bin Laden’s death and the Japanese Tsunami dominate headlines.

We became an authorised Mitel partner to add their quality 5000 platform to our portfolio alongside Panasonic. This provided our customers with a choice of scalable telephony systems that work with the latest technologies.
2010

The Icelandic Ash Cloud makes travel difficult.

We were one of the very first call providers to work directly with O2, allowing us to build suitable tariffs for our customers using their network, as part of your wider telephone system contract. Since then, we now connect directly with Vodafone too.
2009

Barack Obama swears in as the 44th President of the United States.

We celebrated 10 years by becoming an Internet Service Provider in our own right, allowing us to provide better support to our customers by connecting directly with internet carriers. We could now provide broadband to customers and help them with any issues, rather than having to rely on other providers in the middle, giving us direct control, access to the best carriers to deliver value for money and ability to flex bandwidth, all with less downtime.
2008

Cyprus and Malta become the latest countries to adopt the Euro.

We launched our Hosted IT Solutions, initially using SharePoint and Hosted Email. This gave customers the option of paying monthly rather than having to pay outright for licenses. Now with Microsoft O365 more and more services are moving to the cloud.
2006

Disney buys Lucasfilm.

We established a relationship with Gamma as our preferred carrier for minutes and SIP trunks. We believe it is essential to support our customers by working with the best wholesalers. Gamma is certified as a green carrier and has an excellent network.
2005

The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter is launched.

We started installing simultaneous broadband (despite ISPs telling us it wasn’t possible). This meant we could install a line and broadband on the same day, whilst other providers were still advising customers they had to wait a further 10 days for their broadband service to go live.
2004

When Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook.

By 2004, we’d become a well-established business with hundreds of customers, but we wanted to stay at the leading edge. We became one of the first to embrace Wholesale Line Rental, giving our customers choice against BT . This gave better reliability, more choice and cheaper prices.
1999

The year the Nokia 3210 was a hit!

Our now CEO Derek started Eurolink Connect selling telephone minutes. Back then we used images of tin cans to reflect what we did – now we use images of fibre!
