ISDN prices set to increase and phase out

On the 1 September 2018, wholesale call rates on traditional ISDN networks increased, encouraging many businesses to move to VoIP systems. These price rises are only just the beginning as BT will also be phasing out and closing their PSTN and ISDN networks by 2025.

These changes are in response to the ever changing industry needs and capabilities, and improving data networks now mean that businesses more frequently send voice traffic over data lines via VoIP. What’s more is that fibre is now being prioritised as the installation of choice, ultimately giving customers better rates as legacy networks become obsolete.

Although 2025 feels like a long way away, time does fly when you’re having fun, and in reality many supplier contracts in the UK average five years. Plus with prices on the rise, now is the time to think about changing. Despite the (rather long) deadline, we’ve received quite a few enquiries from customers to replace like-for-like ISDN systems and requests about new ISDN systems.

Eurolink Connect has been supporting customers on SIP for many years now and our team of experts can help ensure the quality and return on investment from our installation. We have already seen customers embrace the change with amazing results including SIP transition and we’d love to see if we can help your business out. We have already seen customers embrace the change with amazing results with Clifton Photographic. We recently supported the Bristol & Bath based company with a SIP trunk upgrade to support a transfer from traditional ISDN phone lines to VoIP. Clifton Photogrpahic has since seen a resulting drop in monthly call charges by a staggering £700 per month – a saving which has already paid for the SIP and Ethernet installations many times over.
